Development of gymnastics in the 19th century: - In the 19th century, amazing changes took place in Europe. Different countries set up gymnasiums to strengthen their forces and some countries choose gymnastics coaches to prepare their soldiers. In 1817, the Gymnasium O was used for army training. In 1822, the British Army established a gymnasium and under which they appointed Switch Soldier as the gymnastics coach. In 1848, the first gymnastics club was formed, which is located in Germany, after 8 years a gymnasium was established in a college which is in Germany itself.


The first gymnasium for women was established in 1962 at Mount Holly College and gymnastics in the USA started in 1865. After 4 years gymnasium was established under YMCA. The International Federation of Gymnastics was established in 1881. The British Amateur Gymnastics Association was founded in 1818. And in 1896 the first gymnastics championship was organized.
