Weightlifting is such a sport in which heavy weight is lifted by the player, this sport requires a lot of skill but better technique is needed to see this game as easy as it looks, in fact this game is as difficult as it is by the player under his physical condition. The weight is lifted up to 2- 3 times the weight


Initially it was included in the Olympics in 1896 AD, at that time the rules and regulations of this game were different, but when it became difficult to judge on the basis of those rules, it became necessary to make it simple and easy for the increasing popularity of the game. Some necessary changes were made, it was started with the changes in the 1972 Olympics.


The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is headquartered in New Delhi, of which the Weightlifting Federation of India (IWF) is also a part of the International Weightlifting Federation, which is a member of the International Weightlifting Federation in Asian Weightlifting. The current general secretary of the Weightlifting Association is Balbir Singh.


Achievements of Indian players at international level


- Yamuna Chanu won gold medal in Commonwealth Games in 2006


- Sudhir Kumar won bronze medal in Commonwealth Games in 2006


- Pratima Kumari won the gold medal at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, while she was dropped from the previous Olympics due to doping charges.


- Karnam Malleswari was the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in 2000


- Geeta Rani won gold medal in 2006 Commonwealth Games


- Mirabai Chanu received silver medal in weightlifting in Tokyo Olympics 2020, her weight category was 49 kg



There are two methods of lifting weights in weightlifting.


- snatch


- junk



SNATCH


Under the method of this weightlifting, the player takes the method with a rod or lifts the hymns from the front of both his legs with the help of his hands above the chest and taunts it directly on the head.


which must be done by the player in one go is to be raised up until indicated by the referee to put down



Jag (JERK)


Under this method of weightlifting, the rod is not raised by the player at once, rather the player lifts the rod upwards with the palm and keeps it on the support of his shoulder by jerking it, after that the player makes balance in that position and straight up from the shoulder. stretches the rod towards the side i.e. lifts it upwards after which it releases that moment downwards as per the order of the referee



Rule (RULE)


1- Lifting the rod should be left from top to bottom as per the instructions of the umpire


2- The player is prohibited from using any kind of fluid to form a group or on the muscles.


3- If there is any obstruction or opposition to the balance by the player, he may release the weight by telling the judge that he is the umpire.


4- The weight should not be left intentionally, the weight should be dropped only after taking the permission of the first judge umpire


5- Only after forming the proper group, the weight should be raised upwards.


6- All the rules and laws of the game should be used properly
